CVS 12/6/10

Well, I guess I'm going to have a hard time getting my posts on the right date.  It's the 7th already and I'm just getting my savings for the 6th organized.  I went in CVS just to see what kind of deals they had.  I found a couple of things that I was interested in that I had coupons for, plus I had some ECB (Extra Care Bucks) that I wanted to use before they expired.  Here's how this visit went

I didn't do as well as I hoped with my coupons, I had a 20% off coupon that had expired on 12/3.  In the past they have let me use this type of coupon even if it was expired as long as it wasn't more than a few days since the expiration date.  This coupon would have saved me an additonal $7.39 if the cashier had let me use it.  Also, I wasn't as attentive as I usually am when the coupons are being deducted from my total.  I had 2 $2 coupons for Azo Itch Relief that were printed off of my computer.  I usually hand the coupons to the cashire one by one because sometimes the printed coupons stick together.  This must have happened because I only had one of them deducted.  Overall though, I guess it wasn't too bad.  I only paid $24.30 for $45.83 in merchandise which is a savings of 47%.  I also received $16 in ECB that printed out on the bottom of my receipt that can be used on a future purchase.

If I could have used my 20% off coupon and the cashier had scanned the other $2 coupon then I would have only paid $14.91 which would have been a savings of 67%.  While the 47% savings was ok, I would have much preferred the 67%  savings.  I will have to be more careful about the expiration dates on my coupons and also making sure that the cashier gets all of my coupons and doesn't miss any.
