12/30 - Freebie in the mail

Today I received a coupon for a free 8 pack 12 oz pack of Coke.  I received this coupon from the My Coke Rewards program.  If you like coke products you can go to http://www.mycokerewards.com/ and enter the code on the bottle caps or cartons and receive points.  Once you reach the required number of points you can redeem for various products.  My favorite rewards are the free Coke Product coupons.

Hopefully everything will settle down now that the holidays are over and I will be better able to keep up with my posts (and not loose any of my receipts).

12/29 - Rite-Aid Gift of Savings Certificate

Today I printed out my $20 Rite-Aid Gift of Savings Certificate.  I received this for purchasing $100.01 or more at Rite-Aid between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  I didn't think that I would get the $20 certificate, but my purchases that I did a few days before Christmas put me well over the $100.01 mark.

I think the rules were:

Purchase $0.01 - $50ceive $5 Certificate
Purchase $50.01 - $100 receive $10 Certificate
Purchase $100.01 or more receive $20 Certificate

There is a new program for 12/26/10 - 1/22/11.  I think it is purchase $100 or more in participating items receive $20 +up rewards.  I don't know if I will get this reward or not.  So far I haven't shopped there any for this reward.

12/28 - Freebie and coupon book

Freebie
I received a sample of Post-It Flags in the mail today.

I also received my coupon booklet with over $110 in Proctor & Gamble coupons.  I received this coupon because I purchased over $55 in Proctor & Gamble products and then sent in the form along with the cash register receipts showing the purchases.

12/27 - No shopping or Freebies today

I spent the day at my mom and dad's moving furniture in preparation for the hospital bed that was going to be delivered for my dad.  Me, my sister, my daughter, and my niece rearranged the room.  The furniture wasn't the problems, it was disassembling the 2 computers and then getting them hooked back up to the router that was the problem - None of us are really good at that.

12/26 - After Christmas Sales

I went shopping at Wal-Mart for after Christmas sales.  I misplaced my receipt, but everything I bought was 50% off plus I had a couple of coupons.  If I find the receipt I will update my savings for this shopping trip.  Some of the items that I purchased included:

4 - 10 pack Christmas Boxes
6 - 100 count Christmas Present Tags
6 - 75 count paper cupcake/muffin wrappers
3 - 100 count paper mini cupcake/muffin wrappers
1 Scotch paper cutter
4 bags Ghirardelli Holiday Chocolates

I think there were a few more items, but I can't remember what they were.

12/25 - No Shopping or mail day

Christmas Day was No Shopping and No Mail.  I spent the day with family.  I was very greatful that my dad had gotten out of the hospital a few days before Christmas and was able to spend time with him.

12/24 - Freebie and Rebate check

I haven't posted much the past week because it's been pretty hectic and I haven't done much shopping with coupons.  My dad has been really sick recently (he spent 18 days in the hospital this month) and he is now pretty much confined to home.  He has a walker, a lift chair, and a hospital bed at home now.  A little background here, he has had bladder cancer off and on for the last 8 years.  He has been determined to fight it and has kept a positive attitude, which I think is why he's made it this far.  He's taken chemo and radiation treatments over the last several years also.  This last round of chemo treatments had really taken a toll on him and he isn't able to tolerate them anymore.  The treatments are why he was in the hospital this month.  He had a partial bowel blockage, pneumonia, and his electrolytes were out of range.  He's still doing pretty well despite all that's gone on this past month, but he's starting to show the signs of havoc the cancer and treatments have been taking on his body.  In addition to this, my parents next door neighbor died of cancer and my great-aunt died also, both on Monday afternoon (December 27).  I went to 2 funeral homes today (December 30).

Here's my loot for Christmas Eve

FREEBIE
I got a sample of Purina One SmartBlend Dog Food Lamb and Rice Formula in the mail today.  It included a $2 coupon for a Purina One Pet Food good at Target.

REBATE CHECK

I also received a rebate check for $3.78 from LaChoy Creations.  I mailed the rebate form in before I started this blog.

12/23 - Freebie

Today I received a 1 serving size box of Kashi Go Lean Crisp! Toasted Berry Crumble and a $3 off Coupon and 3 $1 off Coupons.  This sample was courtesy of VocalPoint.  This is a website that I signed up for about a year or two ago.  If you sign up you can get samples and/or coupons in the mail to try different products.  You usually get 1 sample and/or coupon for you, and then several samples to give to friends.  After purchasing and trying the product, you should go back to the website and comment on whether you like/dislike the product.  This is just one of many samples and/or coupons that I have received from this website.  You can go to http://www.vocalpoint.com/ today and sign up to start getting coupons and samples in the mail.

12/22 - More Freebies

I didn't do any shopping today, no time, I had to go to work today (I work 12 hour shifts so I only work 3 days one week and 4 days the next - really cool most of the time), but I did get another freebie in the mail, and I did a survey on a freebie that I received before I started my blog.

Freebie #1
6 oz sample of Purina ONE Cat Food SmartBlend Salmon & Tuna Flavor plus a $2 off coupon for Purina ONE SmartBlend dry pet food bag redeemable at Target.  I don't shop at Target much because the closest one to my house is about 20 miles away, but I may be able to make it there before the coupon expires on June 30, 2011.  NOTE:  If you have a Target coupon you can stack it with a manufacturer's coupon and get the value of both coupons off the price.  If I get a good manufacturer's coupon between now and then I will definitely try to go.

Freebie #2
About a year ago I joined Creative Home Arts Club.  One of the perks of this club is that occasionally you will receive a product in the mail to test.  After you test the product you have to go to a website and do a survey about the item.  The best part is that you get to keep the item that you tested.  FREE!!!  I received a Ruffled Pie Dish in the mail a few days before I started this blog.  A couple of weeks ago I made a peach pie.  I chose peach because I had some peaches in the freezer that I needed to use.  Fresh peaches would have made a much better pie, but I never claimed be be a good cook (ask my family).  The survey was about the pie dish, not the pie.  According to the survey the Suggested Retail Price of the item is $44.  I really liked the pie dish and can't believe I got a $44 product for FREE!

12/21 - Redbox

While I was out shopping I stopped at a Redbox movie rental kiosk and used one of the codes for a free rental.  I was able to get the movie Salt on it's first day out.  Free Movie Night!!!

12/21 - Wal-Mart

Back to Wal-Mart.  I originally went to Wal-Mart this time to get a Gingerbread House for Kristen.  It's a Christmas tradition that we have done every year since Matthew was about 3, and all of Kristen's life.  I wasn't going to get anything but the Gingerbread house because I had left my coupons at home (purposely) so I wouldn't buy a lot, but I remembered a couple that I had in my purse and so here I go again.  I didn't have a lot of savings on this trip because the Gingerbread house, extra icing, and scrapbook page covers (needed for a school project) were the most expensive items and I didn't have any coupons for them, but as I said a few posts ago, any savings is good.  This trip was only 12% savings.

12/21 - Freebie and Rebate Check

Today I got another Freebie and a Rebate Check in the mail.

My freebie was a 1.41 oz sample of Starbucks Natural Fusions Vanilla Flavored Ground Coffee and a $1.50 coupon on my next purchase.  This will be great to go with my Keurig Coffee maker that I'm getting for Christmas.  I will just have to purchase the reusable filter so I can use regular coffee instead of the K-cups.

I also received a $9.98 rebate check from Rite-Aid Single Check Rebates from my November purchases.

I really love Freebies, and the rebate checks are awesome too!!!

12/20 - JC Penney

And now for my next purchase with coupons.  Remember I am only posting my purchases that I use coupons.  I make other purchases for items I need but can't find coupons or places that don't usually have coupons available.

I took Amber to JC Penney to show her an item that I had been looking at since Black Friday, but wasn't sure if Matt would like it.  It was a Cooks 3 in 1 Breakfast Center.  It was a toaster oven, griddle, and 4 cup coffee pot all in one.  The only drawback was that it was red.  I'm still not sure that he will like it, but we decided to get it anyway.  I got a really good deal on this one too, 54% off.

12/20 - FinishLine

This is another 2 part transaction.  We decided to go to FinishLine after we left Hibbett Sports to see if they had the Nike's that Matt wanted and to look at a another pair of sweats for him.  They had the shoes and they had his size, they also had a nice pair of sweats there also.  I had 2 coupons that I had received in the mail, $10 off $60 or more and $20 off $100 or more.  The shoes were $114.99 and the sweats were $60.  Neither item was on sale, so I decided to split my purchase into two separate transactions to maximize my savings.  If I had done only one transaction I would have only saved $20 instead of $30.  The percentages weren't that great 12% for each transaction, but the way I look at it, any savings is great.

12/20 - Hibbett Sports

I still needed to get some Christmas presents for Matthew so I sent his girlfriend, Amber, a text asking her if she knew what he wanted.  I had asked him several times, but he wouldn't tell me much.  Some of the things he told me I had no idea what to get, such as new rims for his Mustang.  That's something he would have to pick out and get himself.  No way I was going to do that!!  Everyone knows how boys are about their wheels.  After sending several texts back and forth, we decided to meet at the mall later to shop.  This is actually the first time I have spent this much time with her since they started dating almost 3 years ago.  I had a good time, I hope she did too.

While we were at Hibbett Sports she showed me a pair of Nike's that he wanted, but they didn't have his size in them.  She also showed me the North Face jacket that she had bought for him for Christmas.  She said he wanted a toboggan to go with it, but they didn't have any that matched.  (I don't think he would have liked the pink one).  So then she said he wanted some silky sweat pants.  They had plenty of those to choose from.  I picked out 2 pair.  One pair was originally $55, on sale for $41.25, and the other pair was originally on sale for $26.25.  And guess what, yes, before I left the house I found a coupon.  It was for 20% off one item.  The 20% was subtracted from the highest price garment so I only paid $33 for the $55 pair of sweats. Really sweet.  I ended up saving 30% on this transaction.

12/20 - Disney Store Order Received

Kristen had decided to wait until she got home from Disney to purchase her souveniers.  She wanted a snow globe but she knew that she couldn't carry it on the airplane and she didn't want to put it in her suitcase because she was afraid that it would get broken in the luggage hold.  We placed the order on 12/13 and received it on 12/20.

12/19 - Rite-Aid again

After we left the mall we went back to Rite-Aid to use the +up rewards that I had gotten earlier in the evening.  I also needed $30 in purchases to get a $20 gift certificate for their "Gift of Savings" Promotion.

I actually ended up with 3 transactions while there.  I did 2 of the transactions on purpose, the other one was because I forgot to go back and get an item and put it in the shopping cart for the second transaction.  I was glad afterwards that I did this because I ended up getting a better deal this way.

My first transaction was for two 12 pack cans of Coke Zero and one 12 pack cans of Coke Classic.  Coke products were on sale 3/$9.99, receive $2 +up rewards.  This transaction was a 60% savings, plus the $2 +up rewards, plus codes in each of the 3 boxes worth 30 points at http://www.mycokerewards.com/

My second transaction was a Christmas gift for Kristen.  Yes, she was with me and she picked it out.  I think this has happened with about 90% of her gifts this year.  She already knows what she is getting (mostly).  There are a few surprises, but not many.  While we were shopping she found a WII Fit 7 in 1 Kit and a WII Sports Resort 8 in 1 Kit.  These items were 25% off and gave $2 +up rewards each.

My third transaction was a stocking stuffer for Matthew.  I was going to go back and look at the cologne gift sets after Kristen showed me the WII Kits, but I forgot and paid for my first 2 transactions.  As I was getting ready to walk out the door I remembered the cologne.  I had a coupon for $5 off a gift set.  I ended up choosing the Tim McGraw Silver 0.5 oz spray.  I didn't get any +up rewards for this transaction, but I was able to use the ones that I got on my second transaction.  I got this for an 83% savings!!
