5/17/11 - Rite Aid and Arby's
I had to get some Pepsi for the refrigerator at work so I stopped at Rite Aid on the way to work. I also needed to get some Vitamin D. I did 2 separate transactions so I could use 2 of the $3 off $15 survey coupons that I had. Transaction #1 was the Vitamin D. I forgot that I had reached the level to get 10% off all non-sale merchandise so I kind of messed this one up. I needed to spend $20 on Nature Made Vitamins and Supplements to get $10 +up Rewards back. I missed it by $0.22. When I have more time later on I will have to go back and see what I can get so I can get it. Transaction #2 was messed up by the computer. I purchased 4 Pepsi products for $13 and then with the in-ad coupon got 1 Free. The only problem was that the Pepsi and Diet Pepsi scanned right, they were $3.25 each. For some reason the Mountain Dew scanned $4.49. I didn't catch this until I got back out to the car so I had to go back in to get a refund for the difference of $2.63 (including tax).

Transaction #2
I didn't show the messed up transaction and the refund, I just showed it the way it was supposed to be. I ended up getting $13.80 back for the Pepsi Products so I only paid $1.87 for the 2 pack ThermaCare Heat Wraps.
After leaving Rite Aid I went to Arby's again for dinner to use another coupon that I had gotten from Facebook for a Free Market Fresh Grilled Chicken Salad Sandwich when you buy a 22oz drink. This coupon was made available by Arby's so you could try their chicken salad sandwich and compare it to Subway's chicken salad sandwich. Arby's also has a sale on their soft drinks, any size for $0.99 all summer. Well, I paid $2.11 yesterday and $2.64 today. I asked why I was charged $1.49 for the drink instead of $0.99 and was told that since I got the sandwich free I had to pay full price for the drink. Whatever, $2.64 is still a good deal for a sandwich, drink, and dessert.

5/15/11 - More work, no shopping
I'm working day shift again today. I have gone through my coupons for the week and gotten rid of the expired coupons. I went through the sales ads and decided what I would like to try to get for the week if my local stores have the items in stock. I've also found out that I'm working night shift the next 4 nights (I've already worked day shift the last 3 days) so I don't think I will be doing much shopping until at least Friday. I am going to take my weekend off. Due to worker fatigue rules after working 7 days in a row you have to have 48 hours off before you can come back, that means I CAN'T work Friday and Saturday. I'm also not going to work on Sunday either even if they do call as ask me to work.

5/14/11 - 16 Hour Day means No Shopping
I have to work 16 hours today. I won't have time to shop any place because no one is open at 5am and then they will all be closed when I head home at 9:30pm. That's ok, I don't need to spend any money right now anyway. The truck ended up at Firestone yesterday evening. Chris thought it might be the fuel pump but it actually ended up being an Oxygen Sensor. Now we're out another $360. We have been really fortunate for a while, this is the first work we've had to have done on any of the vehicles in over a year, but all 3 at once? Really?
5/13/11 - Freebie in the mail
I had a Freebie in the mail today when I got home from work. It was a box of Frosted Mini Wheats Touch of Fruit Cereal from http://www.vocalpoint.com/ There was also a Buy 1 Box Get 1 Box free coupon for me and five $1 off coupons to give to friends.
5/12/11 - Car Day
No shopping today because it is a car day. All 3 of our cars are broken. My SUV started acting up while Chris was out last night. He said he thought it was the transmission. When he pulled in the driveway he also noticed that the light was on inside the cab of his truck. The only way he could get it to go out was to disconnect the negative battery cable. The driver side headlight has also been burnt out for a while. In addition to this, it seems that the car may be having ignition control module issues.
The SUV has to have the transmission rebuit. The guys at AAMCO said that the transmission won't shift into 3rd gear. I'm not looking forward to the bill on this one.
The button that signals that the door is open or closed on the passenger side door of the truck failed. The guys at the Ford Dealership said the the little mechanism broke and they would have to order the part to replace it. They also got the headlight replaced and had to do a little bit of work on the wiring because it was messed up too. There was also a recall on the cruise control wiring and they replaced that too (this part was free). So, to replace a headlight and find out that a switch had failed cost us $106. The light bulb was only $15.88, the rest was labor. We also have to come back to pick up and pay for the part that was ordered ($12.50) and if we want them to install it pay for labor also ($42.50). All this on a 17 year old truck.
The car is doing ok now. It can't really be checked because it is running fine right now and there are no codes to be read by the computer. We will just have to wait and see what happens with it. In the mean time that's what I'm going to have to drive to work this weekend. I really do hope that it doesn't break down in the middle of the road on me at 5am on my way to work.
